About the King County Flood Control District

The King County Flood Control District (District) is a countywide special purpose district created in 2007 to provide flood risk reduction capital projects and programs to the residents of King County.

The District's comprehensive policy approach to flood management is primarily focused on improving the County’s existing aging and inadequate flood protection facilities and funding integrated floodplain management principles, including multi-benefit flood risk reduction facilities, along six major river systems flowing through King County and their significant tributaries.

Governance

The District’s Board of Supervisors is its governing body and is composed of the members of the Metropolitan King County Council.
